Binance Grid Bot — A Quick Explainer: Read This Before You Hit Copy

by Ko

Right before you hit the Copy button — this is all you need to know. No jargon, just the things that actually confused me.

What Is a Grid Bot

A bot that automatically repeats fractional buys and sells within a set price range.

Price goes down, it buys. Price goes up, it sells. If price leaves the range, matching slows down or stops. That's it.

Binance Grid bot example When price exits the range, you'll see a matching-paused notice.

What Gets Applied When You Start with Copy

Hit Copy from the bot menu and it pulls in the price range, number of grids, and — for futures — direction and leverage. You don't need to manually calculate grid spacing.

I tried setting everything myself at first and got confused, so I started with Copy instead. Turned out to be easier.

Does It Buy and Sell Automatically

Yes, it's automatic. But fills only happen when conditions are met within the set range.

One sentence version: the bot trades on its own, but once price leaves the range, it mostly stops.

When It Says Working but Nothing Fills

This threw me off at first.

  • Current price moved above/below the range
  • Insufficient order quantity or margin
  • Minimum order size not met

My ETHUSDT run hit this exact case. The "above upper limit" notice was showing, and since it said Working with no fills, I initially thought something was broken.

Why "Small Amount" Differs Per Bot

There's no fixed definition of small amount. The minimum required varies per bot.

It depends on the symbol price, number of grids, spot vs. futures, minimum order requirements, and leverage. Checking Required Investment on the creation screen is the fastest way.

"Small amount" isn't a fixed number — it's "what this particular bot requires as a minimum + some buffer."

Pre-Launch Checklist

  1. Spot or Futures
  2. Long/Short direction
  3. Leverage (for futures)
  4. Price range
  5. Number of grids
  6. Required Investment
  7. Exit/stop criteria

Check these and you're good to go. Everything else you'll learn faster by just running it.
