Focus develops the photo

Focus, and the
blurred photo
comes into focus.

A friend sends a blurred photo. Only when you focus all the way through does it come clear — opening a voice and a few words with it. The reason to focus is right there on screen.

How it works

From blur to clear, in three steps

It works like a focus timer, but the photo is the motive — not the clock. The longer you concentrate, the more it develops. A calmer way to do deep work, study, or a Pomodoro session.

STEP 1

A blurred photo arrives

A friend tucks a photo, a voice and a note into an envelope. You open it — and it’s still blurred.

STEP 2

It develops as you focus

Start focusing and the photo slowly sharpens. The last layer lifts only when you finish.

STEP 3

Open it, keep it

The clear photo and the voice at the end open, and the developed print stays in your collection.

Features

Small things that hold your focus

✉️

Send a photo, a voice, a note

Attach a voice for the moment it’s opened, a voice for when focus is finished, and a line that appears once it’s clear — then send it to a friend. (Voice is Pro.)

It only opens if you finish

Stop partway and the photo stays blurred. The clear ending is only for those who focus all the way.

🗄️

Kept as developed prints

Each photo you open is filed in your collection, month by month, like prints in a darkroom.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is FocusDiffusion a focus timer?

Yes — it’s a focus timer at heart, but instead of watching a clock you watch a blurred photo come into focus. The session ends when the photo is fully developed.

How is it different from a Pomodoro timer?

A Pomodoro timer counts down; FocusDiffusion gives you something to focus toward. A friend’s hidden photo, voice and note are the reward for finishing — so it pulls you through deep work instead of just measuring it.

Can I study or focus with friends?

That’s the heart of it. Send a friend a blurred photo with a voice and a few words; it only opens when they finish a focus session. It’s gentle accountability for studying and concentration together.

Does it work solo, with no friends?

Yes. Focus on a daily photo, one of your own photos, or a calming cat or dog. Every finished session is kept as a developed print in your collection.

Is FocusDiffusion free?

The focus timer, solo and daily modes, and your collection are free, with no ads. Pro ($3.99/mo or a one-time Lifetime) adds voice messages and finishing a session early.

Which platforms is it on?
